days nine and ten

this will be short. i'm tired. maybe a better post soon, but it's 12:30am mountain time, and i drove us a good portion of the way through colorado.

yesterday morning, we bummed around san francisco a bit. we crossed the golden gate bridge, took some photos, then headed over to golden gate park. tossed the football on the beach for a while, wade broke his camera, then we went to fishermen's wharf for lunch. good stuff there, had some clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl. we bought some candy, then headed up to oakland so wade could buy a new camera. there was a hooker in the parking lot at circuit city, so i listened to her getting talked to by the police while wade got his camera paid for inside. we hit up a trader joe's for some cheapo drinks, and we were off.

gabe got us through rush hour in sacramento and reno, then i drove the last five hours to our destination, which was a creepy rv camp in eastern nevada. everyone was cranky, but the sleep helped. wade tried to pay the owner the next morning, but the owner told him that he'd been an ambulance driver and a coroner for 20 years, so he was just glad to see that we'd pulled over instead of tried to drive through the night. the ladies at the gas station we stopped at before heading out had odd northern sounding accents.

it snowed in utah. for real. in may. we got out and played for about three minutes, which is as long as you can have fun when it's as cold as it was. we crossed the colorado border, driving through dinosaur. dinosaur looked like it had been planned out by a seven year old with sim city. it was kind of funny. after a while, i took over the wheel, and i drove us the rest of the way to my aunt's place. definitely get out to western colorado if you get the chance - our drive was stunning. a raging river was running near the highway for most of the drive, and the mountain scenery couldn't have been beat. even by snow.

right now, we're at my mom's sister sue's house in franktown, co. it's really nice. and they have beds. and running water. all we needed for tonight, really.

here's to beds. and showers. and sue and dan.
